The Tragedy:
Police Officer Truong Thai lost his life while responding to a call about a domestic disturbance in the early morning of October 13, 2022. Officer Thai along with his partner attempted to engage with an individual when he began firing gunshots from within his vehicle. Tragically, both Officer Thai and a civilian were struck, and despite being rushed to a local hospital, Thai couldn’t overcome his injuries.
After the incident the assailant fled the scene, but law enforcement managed to capture him approximately three miles away with the assistance of a police canine.
Officer Thai had dedicated the past twenty-three years to serving with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and was assigned to the South-Central Area command.
