Officer Fernando Arroyos was honored by hundreds of California cops on February 2, 2022, as well as family and friends. Arroyos was laid to rest in the Hollywood Hills cemetery.
“You were a product of your community who represented the best of the diverse melting pot we call home in Los Angeles,” said LAPD Lieutenant Rex Ingram. “You stood tall, defending life and liberty, so that everyone else could live their American Dream.”
Fellow police officer and friend William Castro said, “He was always smiling. He was always in such a good mood. I was always in a bad mood, and I would always ask him why are you in such a good mood. He would say ‘man, I just love my job’.”

They each are faced with a life sentence in federal prison.
Rios and Contreras also admitted to committing armed robberies against two other victims on the same day. Rios’ girlfriend, Haylee Marie Grisham, pleaded guilty in April to one count of violent crime and for participating in the robbery of Arroyos. She also could receive a life sentence.
