Police Officer Donald Sahota was off duty when he was involved in a tragic incident. A Clark County Office deputy was attempting to apprehend a robbery suspect who was trying to break into Sahota’s home. The suspect had fled on foot from police after robbing a gas station. Deputy Sheriff Dom Calata tragically lost his life on March 16, 2022 due to gunshot injuries sustained on March 15 during an operation with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department SWAT Team. The operation’s goal was to execute an arrest warrant alongside the South Sound Gang Task Force, but once they were outside the suspect’s mobile home they were met with intense gunfire. Both Deputy Calata and a sergeant were struck in the exchange before the suspect was fatally shot by returning officer fire.

Police Officer Dan Rocha lost his life on March 25, 2022, while investigating a suspicious individual in the early afternoon in Washington.  Officer Rocha was responding to several citizen reports calling in about the man acting suspiciously. Rocha witnessed this suspect transferring guns between two vehicles before he made contact with the man. Upon confrontation, he discovered the suspect had a warrant out for his arrest and was also a convicted felon. While Rocha was attempting to arrest the man, a struggle ensued, resulting in Rocha being fatally shot.
